Weber Boulevard Extension

The Weber Boulevard Extension project will provide access to approximately 400 acres of industrial property off of Palmetto Commerce Parkway. The 0.53-mile extension that extends westerly from its intersection with Palmetto Commerce Parkway, was designed as a 2-lane road that will be widened to 4-lanes in the future. The project scope also Included the design of approximately 400 LF of new roadway frontage and dedicated access points as well as water and sewer utilities that will provide service to the adjoining properties.

 

Reveer Group, with Paul Ford acting as project manager and Brad Mustain serving as the lead design engineer and the Engineer-of-Record, has completed the design and permitting portion of the project. Deliverables include Construction plans, technical specifications, a SWPPP report, and a Construction cost estimate and schedule of values. Requirements for Weber Boulevard Extension included permits for the City of North Charleston P&Z and MS4; SCDHEC BoW, CZC, and NOI; SCE&G; Charleston Water System; and North Charleston Sewer District.

 

The project required creativity to accommodate the Fed Ex Ground 45-acre site development project that is planned to occur simultaneously as Weber Boulevard Extension construction is underway. Interim milestone construction dates were written in the construction contract to ensure that the Fed Ex Ground contractor had proper all-weather access to their construction project. The bid form includes several different pavement options as well as subgrade reclamation to give the invited contractors as many options as possible which will offer the Owner the absolute best value without affecting the pavement design life. Once complete, the road will be dedicated to the City of North Charleston.
